What is a Passivhaus?
Passive House
is a building standard that is truly energy efficient, comfortable and affordable at the same time
Energy efficient
Passive Houses allow for space heating and cooling related energy savings of up to 90% compared with typical building stock and over 75% compared to average new builds.
Low energy demand
Passive Houses make efficient use of the sun, internal heat sources and heat recovery, rendering conventional heating systems unnecessary throughout even the coldest of winters.
Comfortable
Passive Houses are praised for the high level of comfort they offer. Internal surface temperatures vary little from indoor air temperatures, even in the face of extreme outdoor temperatures.
Superior air quality
A ventilation system imperceptibly supplies constant fresh air, making for superior air quality without unpleasant draughts.
What is a nZEB?
Nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEBs) have very high energy performance. The low amount of energy that these buildings require comes mostly from renewable sources.
The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
(2010/31/EU of the European Parliament) requires all new buildings to be nearly zero-energy by the end of 2020.
Primary energy and CO2 emissions
Low primary energy demand and CO2 emissions related to the total energy delivered into the building from active supply systems.
